Fire Department

The Town of Saxis Fire Department's mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for all citizens and visitors from the adverse effects of natural and man-made emergencies. 

Our goal is to provide a protection program through a cost-efficient approach to emergency response, fire code application and public fire education.

The Saxis Volunteer Fire Company located at 8337 Free School Lane, Saxis, VA  23427 provides fire protection and emergency response services to the Town of Saxis and the surrounding communities.  The fire department is comprised of all volunteer members. In addition to responding to fires, The Saxis Volunteer Fire Company also responds to medical emergencies, motor vchicle accidents, rescue calls, incidents involving hazardous materials, along with rescue management during flooding and hurricane events.

Ambulance service is provided by the Saxis Fire Department and is also an all volunteer staff.  In the event the Saxis ambulance is not available surrounding area ambulances will respond to emergency calls through 911.  The ambulance is supported by local tained EMT personnel along with volunteer staff drivers.  Service is provided to Riverside Hospital in Onley, VA or Tidal Health in Salisbury, MD.
